Given the endless amount of amateur music available today, only the most multi-talented artists will rise to the top. As a producer, rapper and r&b songwriter, Dujon is the artist of the future. His new EP, “Success” is a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted new talent, with a sound just as unique as his name.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Dujon started developing his craft at an early age. By the time he was 12, the straight-A student was already training his voice in the school choir and began learning how to play both the keyboard and clarinet. At 13, he started writing rap lyrics to commercial beats and recording himself on his computer. Soon after, he started making his own beats with a MIDI keyboard and computer software, taking his influences, like the Neptunes and A Tribe Called Quest, and using them to shape his own style.

By the time he graduated from high school, Dujon had already performed live at venues around the Toronto area, released an independent mixtape, garnered local radio play, and had offers from several independent record labels. But even with all his success thus far, he decided to play it safe and pursue a career in computer science. It was while he was in college that Dujon received a harsh reality check. His mother was diagnosed with a particularly deadly form cancer and did not have much longer to live. “It made me realize that you only get one life, so you might as well spend it doing what you love”, said the rapper. And with that, he changed courses and earned his diploma in audio engineering and music production.

With his new found knowledge, Dujon went to work on his debut album and enlisted platinum award winning producer, Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Fefe Dobson, Choclair) to help him out. He reflects, “The majority of this album was written at a really dark point in my life. My mom had just passed away and I was living alone in my studio, downtown [Toronto]. I spent months and months locked up in there, experimenting with different sounds. I recorded about 15 songs all together, and ended up choosing 5 of them”.  A few of the other songs went toward a free 19-track mixtape called “19 Steps to Success” which he released in October 2009 to help promote the EP.

Dujon currently lives in Miami, Florida, where he runs a production company called DigitalHeart Beats. And after 10 years of honing his craft, Dujon has finally created a fully realized album that is the culmination of where he’s been and where he’s going, and one that is sure to win him the notoriety demanded by the depth and quality of his songs.
